Subject: Are You Uninsured?
I have been hired to educate people in Orleans County about the new
Catamount Health Plan and encourage uninsured persons to enroll.
If you are currently without health insurance, the state of Vermont has
three programs that may help you under the umbrella Green Mountain
Care—Catamount Health, Medicaid, or VHAP. You are eligible for these
programs even if you are working.
You are eligible for the new program, Catamount Health, if you have
been uninsured for the past 12 months. This 12-month waiting period is
waived if you lost your insurance because: you lost or voluntarily quit
your job, got divorced, left college, no longer can afford COBRA, or
some other reasons.
There are brochures available in your child's school that will give you
more information about Catamount Health.
If you are interested in hearing more about enrolling in health care from
someone local, please call me at 525-3957 or our toll free number 1-866-
482-4723. If you have access to the internet, you can connect to the
state's website at www. greenmountaincare.org and view the application.
You may also call the toll free number for the state: 1-800-250-8427.
Orleans County has a very high percentage of people who have no health
insurance coverage. If you are one of the uninsured, or know someone
who is, please call and see if you might be eligible.
